The Hong Kong Computer Society, in collaboration with The Open Group and with support from the AEA HK Chapter, is hosting The Open Group Certified Architect (Open CA) program board interviews at the HKCS on Friday 5th October 2012
About The Open Group Certified Architect (Open CA) Program
The Open CA program (formerly ITAC) was created in 2005 and now has over 3500 certified people from 160 companies in over 60 countries across the world. It is the market leading independent benchmark by which to identify the existence and validity of an IT or Enterprise Architect’s skills and experience. It is different to most IT certification programs in that there are no courses to attend or exams to take.
The Open CA certification requires a candidate to submit written evidence that demonstrates the candidate’s mastery of the necessary skills in real world situations. This evidence is reviewed by a board of three architects who have been certified by this process, and the board decides if the evidence provided meets the certification requirements. If it does, then the holder of this certification has demonstrated actual successful practice.
Applying for Open CA Certification
There are three levels to the Open CA program: Certified (Level 1), Master (Level 2), and Distinguished (Level 3). The program is made up of four parts:
– Core foundation skills
– Experience requirements
– Professional development
– Contributions to the architect community
Each level requires the candidate to complete a certification package, which contains a series of questions that map to the Conformance Requirements required by the program. Candidates need to answer each section and give a detailed account of how they dealt with each area. They will also need to provide a minimum of two (2) experience profiles for Level 1 (three (3) for Level 2 and 3) that describe how their skills were used in their particular IT projects.
