It was our pleasure to have Mr. Rico Chiang, a freelance IT professional and special interest group (ArchiMate modeling language) leader of Association of Enterprise Architects, Hong Kong Chapter to speak with us on the Practicing Enterprise Architecture on 28 March 2014 (7pm) in the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Rico has over 20 years of application systems development experience, 15 of which are from the real estate industry. Mr Chiang has assumed the role of head of IT department and application development teams of renowned NGO and listed property companies in Hong Kong.
In this speaker session, Rico gave a sharing on his Real Estate Industry EA Reference Model using the Archimate modeling language. The model was developed base on “traditional” real estate business scenario. In order to test Archimate’s ability to support TOGAF, Rico used the traditional model as “as-is” and tried to develop a “to-be” model to address some hypothetical business needs and issues.
The seminar was well received with over 30 IT architects and managers. We had a fruitful interactive Q&A session where Rico discussed with the audience on how to adopt Archimate and EA into real life examples. Our advisor, CK Wong also gave some insights on the EA adoption and the industry common challenges.
